Squeezing eight Focusrite mic preamps into a 1U rack would be hard
enough, but they've managed to include soft knee compressors as well
with adjustable threshold which can gradually pull back your loud
peaks, but morph into brick-wall limiters at the peakceiling to
avoid clipping. This is especially important if you consider the
optional A/D converter board, which provides 8 channels of 24 bit
96kHz A/D across ADAT lightpipe (switchable to S/PDIF0 or 8 channels
via AES/EBU format - both can run simultaneously for 16 digital outs,
besides the standard 8 balanced analogue preamp outputs, which are
via 25 pin D-Sub. Includes mic / line, 48V, polarity, HPF and two
high impedance guitar jack inputs. THD 0.002%, EIN -128dB, -3dB @
